Balamida stands as a testament to our love for the Mediterranean and our unwavering commitment to sustainability. We unite our mission and vision in one purpose: to provide Lebanon with clean, locally sourced fish that champions both environmental responsibility and the empowerment of our coastal communities. We aspire to become Lebanon’s leading sustainable seafood brand, where every product reflects the honest, wild flavour of the sea we grew up with, and every choice supports a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Balamida began with something simple: we were playing kitchen. During the lockdown, we bought big wild fish from local fishermen, cleaned them, cooked them, and shared them with friends. They loved the taste and kept asking for more.
What started as a fun ritual became a passion project supporting local fishermen, promoting sustainable fishing, and keeping Lebanon’s deep-sea traditions alive.

Our involvement in Beirut coastal cleanups later grew into the Beirut Coastal Cleanup (BCC) initiative, perfectly aligned with our purpose:

clean coasts → clean seas → clean sea life → clean food.

From there, we began sourcing wild-caught fish from Lebanon’s deep waters, testing every catch, and preparing it with methods that respect the sea, the fishermen, and the consumer.

On November 29, 2021, a sunset dive off Beirut changed everything. While we were in the water, Mother Earth sent us a sign, a massive Bluefin tuna, the catch of the year, drifting toward us as if guided.
The fish swam gently and laid itself between our hands. No chase, no struggle. Just a calm, powerful moment that went viral and felt like a message:
Respect the sea, and the sea responds.
That moment became the heart of Balamida, a reminder that every catch carries meaning, responsibility, and a story bigger than us.
